Regardless of the current periodic table style, or information screen view, clicking on the left or right arrow buttons of the navigator panel will move the element selection back and forth within the current period or shell.
The left button decreases the electron count for the current shell, selecting, as a result, the previous element in the period. If the selection is already at the least element in the period, clicking the left arrow button will have no effect.
The right button increases the electron count for the current outer shell with similar results.
The behavior of the left and right buttons remains the same in the non-traditional views of the periodic table. It can be instructive to observe the selection sequence in some of the non-traditional views such as the circular and the three-dimensional energy matrix tables.
