Mazes are fascinating mind puzzles and have been used over the centuries for everything from entrapment (the Labyrinth of the Minotaur) to enhancing your likelihood of spending money (modern shopping malls). They also have a long tradition of use as tools for spiritual meditation. Ancient meditation mazes are found in some of the great cathedrals of Europe and are becoming popular in the United States.

Amaze presents nine meditation mazes right on your computer screen. The opening screen displays them all in a mozaic.  Clicking on one of the mazes enlarges it to full size.

The unique property of the Amaze screen mazes is that you can follow them with guided assistance of the computer. The maze marker, which you move with your mouse, is gently nudged in the proper direction as you move through the path.

The Fascination of the Maze  The Maze, or Labyrinth has long fascinated people of many cultures. Solving a puzzle maze, with its false paths, blind alleys and dead ends can be an intellectual challenge for many. Others have found traveling the turns of a single path labyrinth to be a tool for meditation. In western culture, the use of the maze in meditation dates back to the middle of the first millennium. Many of the most famous mazes are found in the pavement stones of cathedrals or as worn paths in churchyards or country hillsides.
